Vintage Series - May Table Runner, Beginning & Intermediate Applique Class - TUSTIN

Decorate your home with a beautiful table runner from The Vintage Series by Jennifer Bosworth of Shabby Fabrics. This pattern is for the May design. Table runner measures approximately 12-1/2" x 53". This class is geared toward beginners who want to learn how to applique.

12½" x 53"
1½ yards Steam-A-Seam 18” wide *
1½ yards Shapeflex*
Batting – 18 x 58
FABRIC - Background – 1 color 3/4 yard – if 2 colors 1/3 yard each *
Vases – 2 colors ¼ yard each *
Flowers – 2 colors 1/8 yd each *
Leaves & Stems – 2 colors 1/8 yd each *
Sashing & Binding – ½ YARD *
Backing * 18” x 58” *
Isacord threads *
Match colors to fabrics. 2 greens, 2 colors for flowers, 2 colors for vases.
Wind a bobbin for each color.
Supplies to bring to class –
Sewing machine cleaned, oiled and ready to go
Extension table –Power Cord
Bobbins (3-5)
Needles – 75/11
Presser foot- 20 or 20C or 20D, or open toe foot
Thread *
Small & Large Scissors *
Pen or Pencil to trace patterns
Iron & ironing pad (this is necessary to do this class)

Instructions of what to do Before Class Beginner:
- Wind a bobbin for each color.
- Cut out 4 background squares 13” x 13” each
- Cut out shapeflex for each square and iron on to background squares
- Cut out binding 2 ¼” by WOF (4 strips)
- Cut out sashing 2” by WOF (1 strip) – sub-cut to 3 - 12 ½” strips

Instructions of what to do Before Class for Intermediate:
- Wind a bobbin for each color.
- Cut out 4 background squares 13” x 13” each
- Cut out shapeflex for each square and iron on to background squares
- Cut out binding 2 ¼” by WOF (4 strips) Combine strips for total of 140”
- Cut out sashing 2” by WOF (1 strip) – sub-cut to 3 - 12 ½” strips
- Prepare your batting and backing pieces to 18 X 58.
- Trace mirrored image of all pattern pieces to back of Steam-A-Seam (Grid side)

Note:
- When tracing patterns on to Steam a Seam, group colors together.
- After tracing iron fabrics to front of piece after removing paper on front.
- After it’s cooled down then cut out all your pieces.
- After you cut out the vases, center on your background piece and iron on #21, #22 and #1 only.
- Cut out all other pieces. Put in Ziploc snack bags grouping by what you need for each square. Each square contains ONE of each number, so 4 Ziploc snack bags.
o NOTE: Each square will have 5 flowers, either one color or 3 one color 2 another color. Leaves 4 of one shade of green, 5 another shade of green, stems 2 one green 3 another green. Each bag would have 19 pieces.
DO NOT STITCH DOWN ANYTHING UNTIL CLASS FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTION.
