“Pineapples” by Laura Heine Pattern*

Fabric requirements: I have listed the needed scrap requirements. If purchasing yardage, buy either FQ’s or 1/3 yard cuts for each needed element.

Backgrounds:

5 - 6”x 12” light prints

4 -6” squares

2 – 6”x 12” coordinating dark prints for table

Underlay Fabrics:

9”x 12” blue crisscross fabric for pineapple

12”x 11” yellow/ orange crisscross fabric for pineapple

2 – 5” x 12” dark blue fabrics for pineapple outline

2 - 5”x 12” dark yellow fabrics for pineapple outline

Crowns:

15- 4”x 12” different shades of greens, in different prints and textures

12”x 11” green and blue fabric in a stripe.

Cuttable and Large-Scale Florals:

7” x 12” medium scale yellow/orange floral

7” x 12” medium scale blue floral

7” x 12” yellow/orange floral with leaves

7” x 12” blue floral with leaves

6”x 6” blue floral small print

6 “x 6” yellow/orange small print

6” x 6” square for pineapple stars

8 yards of 12” Steam-A-Seam 2*

Pattern ease cut exactly at 18”x24” (if you are going to bind your collage) OR 21” x 27” (if you are going to mount your collage on a stretched canvas.) *

Backing Fabric and Batting (either 22” x 28” or 25” x 32” depending on how you are going to display your finished collage) *

17” x 24” Precision Fusing Mat*

Pressing Sheet*

12 Paper plates

Parchment paper

Unscented Dryer Sheets

6½” x 12½” Creative Grid Ruler*

Karen Kay Buckley Medium Perfect Scissors (either Purple or Blue handles) *

40wt or 50wt Cotton Thread for quilting finished collage*

Non-Stick Needles 90/14 *

Sewer’s Aid* or Bernina Lubrication Unit*

Sewing Machine in good working order with slide on table

#1D foot or Walking Foot


Before class:

ATTEND THE PREP CLASS – BRING ALL SUPPLIES WITH YOU.

Collect all fabrics and supplies. Cut fabrics to needed amounts listed above, then iron on Steam-A-Seam 2 to the backs of the fabrics. The listed amounts are more then enough for the project. Fussy Cut your floral fabrics leaving about 1/8th around each cuttable.

 

**Please note that most students will not start quilting their project in class. Most students will just collage all day. You may not need your machine in class. **
