Laura Heine Mini Guardian Angel - Tustin

The mini quilted Guardian Angel is a lovely fabric collage project that is easy to finish in a weekend, it would make a great gift or festive addition to your home. I chose to make mine as a Christmas Angel, but you can make it a year-round Angel! I would strongly suggest that you purchase a 17”x 24” Precision Fusing Mat. It will be much easier to put together this project if you have one. This fabric collage is made with Laura’s “painterly” method which uses small strips of fabric. I’ve included yardage requirements, but you could very easily substitute scraps from your fabric stash.

This is an all-day class. Some students might finish their collages and start quilting their projects, but some might just work on the fabric collage. You may or may not use your sewing machine. FYI

BEFORE CLASS:

Please come to class with the fabrics ironed onto Steam-A- Seam 2. Start off by cutting a 5” x 12” piece or so from each fabric and iron on the Steam a Seam 2. For the hair, halo, and skin, you just need 2”x 6” of several assorted scraps. You can also fussy cut the small florals out before class. I used the florals as my halo, to embellish the dress, and as a bouquet. Bring more fabrics than you think you will need to class.
