We will start the morning with hoop, stabilizing and alignment of designs. We will continue with editing in the machine and then have a group discussion on the business part of embroidery. DO NOT bring your machine. Paper and pens along with specific questions are recommended.

Learn how you can get started machine quilting on your wonderful longarm quilting machine. We will discuss how to attach the leaders and the easy way to load your quilt. The importance of keeping your table and machine clean. Thread, needles and batting will be discussed. Bring your questions. Also bring a notebook and pencil for notes and drawing.

We will experience the advanced innovative digitizing opportunities through the Master Works embroidery program. Week one will be an overview of the workspace, setting up the workspace and the use of some basic tools. Week two we will explore some of the other convenient and unique tools available through Masterworks.

Class 1:
In this first class, we will explore the parts of the Serger, maintenance of your machine, threading of the Serger and basic Serger sewing techniques.
Class 2:
In the 2nd class, we will explore Serger sewing techniques using the basic feet with different fabrics and threads.
Class 3
In the last class, we will learn further Serger sewing using the differential, threading and Serger sewing using the cover, chain, wave and combined stitches, the basic feet and some specialty feet that use these stitches and techniques.
Supply List:
1. Machine in good working order with foot controller and electrical cord
2. Size 80/12 and/or 90/14 needles (ELx705CF). You can wait until the first class before purchasing the needles.
3. 4 spools of Metracor Serger thread. One each of red, yellow, blue and green.
4. Spool of Wooly Nylon and a spool or two of Pearl Crown Rayon (any color), you can purchase these here at the store at class.
5. ¼ yard ½ ″ wide polyester lace (class 2)
